Hello & Welcome!

I’m Mia, a student at the University of Connecticut dual majoring in Journalism and Economics. My journey to journalism has been an evolving one, beginning with a dream of becoming an English teacher. However, my passion for photography, particularly concert photography, led me to pivot my career path. Writing show reviews and covering music news opened my eyes to the power of storytelling, blending both the written word and visual arts.

As a journalist, I strive to combine my love for writing with my skills in visual storytelling. Journalism allows me to craft compelling narratives while enhancing my abilities in editing, photography, and videography.

Currently, I am a freelance journalist at CTNewsJunkie, an authentic, locally-owned political and public policy news source that has been serving Connecticut’s legislative, governmental, and community news since 2005. In this role, I am gaining invaluable experience in political reporting, state government, and the ever-evolving landscape of public policy.

This summer, I am expanding my horizons by interning with Big Picture Media, an all-female entertainment and event publicity agency that represents bands, festivals, and events. Founded in 2007, the agency’s work resonates with my passion for music and culture, and I’m excited to dive into this internship to gain more experience in the entertainment industry.

Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in collaborating, discussing potential opportunities, or just connecting over a shared passion for storytelling. I’m always excited to meet like-minded individuals and explore new ventures in journalism and the creative arts.
