Labor Leaders, Elected Officials Honor Connecticut Workers Lost or Injured on the Job
In 2023, 33 workers in Connecticut died from job-related injuries, and 31,000 more were injured or became ill due to hazardous working conditions. Nationally, 5,283 workers were killed on the job and an estimated 135,000 more died from occupational diseases, according to the AFL-CIO’s annual “Death on the Job” report.
Bloomfield Tenants Demand Collective Action Over Rent Hikes, Conditions
Residents of the Manor House apartment complex in Bloomfield joined state Rep. Bobby Gibson, D-Bloomfield, and members of the Connecticut Tenants Union at the Legislative Office Building on Friday to demand that their landlord, Navarino Property Group, negotiate a binding agreement with tenants amid rising rents and deteriorating living conditions.
